Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics unveiled their latest premium gadgets to Chinese consumers at China's largest home appliance and tech show, held in Shanghai, according to the companies, Friday.
The two Korean tech companies participated in the Appliance & Electronics World Expo (AWE) 2024, China's largest tech show for home appliances and IT devices, held in Shanghai until March 17.
Through the tech show, Samsung and LG are aiming to appeal to consumers by localizing their premium products for the Chinese market.
Samsung presented products tailored for Chinese households, adjusting to local housing needs there, while LG announced its distribution collaboration with JD.com, the largest online home appliance retailer in China.
Samsung showcased its home appliance brand Bespoke, which features refrigerators and washing machines, as well as premium TV products, like Micro LED TVs, at AWE.
"Samsung Electronics' Bespoke appliances, showcased at this AWE, are characterized by their slim exterior designs tailored to accommodate Chinese households, while the interior is designed for efficient use," the company said.
The Bespoke refrigerator is designed to fit the average-sized kitchen in China, according to the company. It also features specialized storage tailored to the dietary habits of Chinese consumers, including a drybox for storing nuts and tea leaves at a low humidity, and a crisper for keeping vegetables and fruits fresh at the appropriate humidity. Additionally, the company said users of the product can save up to an additional 10 percent in terms of energy thanks to its AI Energy Mode.
The Bespoke washing machine has a 16 percent larger drum size than existing products, providing a 12-kilogram laundry capacity and allowing consumers to efficiently use narrow indoor spaces, Samsung said.
Concerning its TV products, Samsung introduced a variety of large-sized premium TVs into the Chinese market, including Micro LED TVs from 76-inch to 114-inch models, including the Neo QLED 8K and various OLED TVs.
At AWE, LG Electronics introduced the LG WashTower, with a washer at the bottom and a dryer on top, the InstaView refrigerator and 77-inch and 83-inch OLED TVs. These products are set to be sold this year through JD.com.
In particular, LG is targeting younger customers with products like the All New Styler steam closet, a popular item in the Chinese market. The latest product includes a handy steamer feature, which is excellent for removing wrinkles from clothes.
LG also plans to sell the portable screen StandbyME Go, UltraGear OLED gaming monitors, LG Gram laptops and the small-sized portable projector CineBeam Qube.
The company announced at AWE that it seeks to appeal to Chinese consumers who desire specialized products by showcasing various types of premium products in the Chinese market.
